Abstract

The article discusses the picture of Belarus as presented by the mass media in France. The analysis focuses on 'Le Monde diplomatique', also known as 'Le Diplo' a monthly publication offering analysis and opinion on politics, culture, and current affairs. 'Le Diplo' enjoys an international readership, is translated into 28 languages and is available in 47 printed editions as well as an online version. Articles presented by 'Le Monde diplomatique' provide an in-depth critical analysis, including comparative and historical aspects of topics under discussion. Belarus and its issues are featured in 'Le Diplo' from time to time, although they do not occupy a prominent position in the publication. Therefore, the analysis of 'Le Diplo' stories devoted to Belarus presents a picture of a specific country created by the French media.
