Abstract

Basing on historical and bibliographical sources which have not been analysed so far, the author examines various aspects of the life of the poet Alexander Rypinski after his return from emigration in 1859. The analysis includes a description of a photographic studio opened and run by the poet in Vitebsk as well as his stay at the manors in Soloniec and Stragany in Vitebsk Governorate. The article addresses the life of the poet’s wife, Xaveria Rypinska, née Zablocka, as well as the date of his death and the place of his burial, all of which have never been discussed up till now.
