Vexillologic Heritage of Rech Pospolitaja from the Period between the 16th and 18th Centuries in Russian Trophy Collections

Abstract

In his article, the author raises the problem of detecting and investigating the vexillologic heritage of 'Rech Pospolitaja' in Russian trophy and museum collections. On the basis of a comparative analysis and an analysis based on a standard questionnaire concerning the inventories of the 17th and 18th centuries, the author comes to the conclusion that there are certain traditional patterns and at the same time, a trend towards greater penetration of foreign influences, especially from Prussia. In conclusion, the problem of translation of vexillologic terminology is signalled.
