Abstract

The article examines the peculiar features of the formation of the new Belarusian literature. These peculiarities were driven by the coexistence of discourses that are conceptually and axiologically different in the cultural space of the civilizational borderland. The presence of multidirectional trends and phe nomena are examined on examples of U. Syrokomlya and P. Shpileuski’s travel prose. Being of the same age and from the same land, the authors inter preted the past and present of their native land in the context of different civilizational paradigms. In addition to the conceptual divergence, there are some common points of the writers’ works who performed on the periphery of Russian- and Polish-language literature. These points are the authors’ spiritual unity with their native land, understanding of the intrinsic value of its history and culture, respectful attitude to the Belarusian language
