Abstract
The resettlement of the population of the eastern regions of interwar Poland to the Recovered Territories coupled with migrations in search of work and better living conditions have resulted in the presence of patronymic family names with the suffix -uk all over Poland although these patronymics clearly have an Eastern Slavonic origin. An analysis of patronymic family names with the suffix -uk borne by inhabitants of the Podlaskie administrative region shows that few (50) of such family names are confined to this region. The vast majority of patronymic family names ending in -uk attested there are also recorded from all of most of the other administrative regions.
