Abstract

This article focuses on the influence of Polish culture and the Polish community on understanding features of Belarusian cultural identity. The interpretation of the Warsaw period of Ihar Babkov´s history and the use of poem 'Girl' (by Bolesław Leśmian, an example of Polish literature) is the basis of the article. In this regard topics such as wall, prohibition, liberty, and so on, are analysed. In addition to the interpretive part, this article provides a theoretical overview of cultural patterns as basic principles of identification in intercultural communication, as well as an analysis of the essay 'We and Poland' by Smalancuk and other similar texts.
