'Pramova Mialieshki' ('Speech of Meleshko') and 'List da Abukhovicha' ('Letter to Abuchowich'): Problems of Translation into Modern Belarusian Language

Abstract

The article attempts to analyse translation problems of two examples of old Belarusian literature, i. e. 'Pramovy Mialieshki' and 'List da Abukhovicha', into the modern Belarusian language. The difficulties can be divided into two groups: the choice of the source text (both works have been published repeatedly since the 19th century and have significant differences text-wise) and the necessity to convey stylistic features of the works in the target text.
