Abstrakt

The urbanization processes of the second half of the 20th century in Belarus and Poland became the subject of increased interest among writers of the post-war generation. According to the younger generation of Belarusian writers, both in Belarus itself and in Poland, the space of the city is not only an opportunity for personal development or better material existence, but also a real threat to traditional values. Andrei Fiedarenka and Michas Androsiuk, who are among the most interesting contemporary Belarusian writers, focus in their works on showing the psyche of a city dweller. Their personal experience is the underlying reason for a return of writers to the subject of the city and its residents. Their country origin as well as many years of urban life made a clear mark on the conceptual and stylistic features of their stories. The writers focus on showing the influence of the city on everyday life of people and their character. Andrei Fiedarenka presents the inner world of his heroes, disappointed and tired of living in the urban space. The protagonists of Michas Androsiuk short stories are residents of a small town on the Polish-Belarusian borderland.
