Abstract
The article aims to show both western and eastern influences in the stories by Uladzimir Arlou compiled in the volume Kochanek Jej Wysokości (Her Majesty’s Lover). Firstly, postmodernist features of the prose are analysed, with special attention paid to literary influences. Secondly, the structure of the short stories is examined and, thirdly, the patriotic aspect of Arlou’s writings is inspected. Finally, I describe the author’s special attitude towards cruelty. All of those features are studied in regard to specific eastern and western influences.
