The article presents the influence of existential philosophy on the literature of Andrey Fiedarenka, one of the most famous contemporary authors writing in Belarusian. In his books he shows main characters during the most difficult times of their lives. Exclusion and social isolation make their existence miserable. Fiedarenka gives us a perfect view of the human psyche, including disorientation and meaninglessness of a person’s fate. He presents separate ways of finding (or trying to find) a purpose or the meaning of life. The author creates very authentic but also very unique and complicated characters, which places him among other world great novelists. Moreover, he points out a difficult situation of Belarusian culture, showing absurdity and injustice in people’s lives. His works also show us important moments in Belarusian history, reminding us that the struggle of a single person could be a struggle of the whole nation.
