Abstrakt

Nina Barszczewska has always been interested in the dialectology of the Polish-Belarusian border region, to which she devoted her master’s thesis in 1980, titled “Wedding Customs in the Białystok Region. A Semantic and Comparative Analysis,” and in 1988, her doctoral dissertation titled “Dialectalisms in the Dictionary of the Belarusian Language with Translations.” In 2004, Nina Barszczewska defended her habilitation dissertation titled “Belarusian Emigration – Defender of the Native Language,” devoted to Belarusian emigration and its role in preserving the native language. In 2008, she became an associate professor at the University of Warsaw. Between 2007 and 2016, she supervised 35 master’s students in Belarusian philology. Eight doctoral students studied under her academic supervision.
